I got a question on overclocking my PNY Geforce 6600. I just got it and overclocked it to 359/559mhz from 300/500mhz. I think that's the max cause if I move it even 1mhz more it says testing has failed. I'm using CoolBits. Is it because the agpvolt is too little, that's why I can't overclock it more? My agpvolt is at 1.10 and how much more volts should I up it too? I was hoping to get my video card to about 450/700mhz if it's possible. I currently have 768mb of ram and running at 2.0ghz P4. Also should do I need to get a new heatsink for the video card or should I just add Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste to it instead of using the one's they already have in it?

Are you getting artifacts? If no, then keep overclocking. That test is just a safe zone, many people are able to OC past that and still have no artifacts. And im not sure about 6600, but my 6800 runs at 1.5 volts. 1.1 volts sounds low to me, but maybe thats because idk 6600.

Oh I ran some games like CS: Source and Half-Life 2 at OC/ing every 10mhz or so and I don't seem to be getting any artifacts. And I can't seem to set it any higher cause it won't let me set the changes unless I've tested them, but I fail the tests if I set anything higher then 359/559mhz.

Hello Bradley,

Have you tried looking into RivaTuner yet?

There's only so much you can overclock a card before you seriously risk damaging it. Just be happy with with your overclock! Your not gonna see a large preformance increase just cause you have a few extra Mhz. An OC will get you an extra 5-20 fps max. (depending on how much you OC)

Hey, I have some overclocking issues;
First of all, everytime i overclock my 6600 my screen goes black on next boot until i re-install the drivers in <safemode> , 10 mhz higher is too much, currently my card is running factory settings,also, my cpu can go more than what its at right now but my mainboard wont let me,This is my computer:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+(Overclocked) @ 2.4Ghz (2475 Mhz)
Nvidia GeForce 6600<AGP>
PC3200 RAM<manufacturer/unknown>512mb 200mhz
PC3200 Samsung M3 68L6523DUS-CCC 512mb 200mhz
WinXP
nForce 3 motherboard AGP 3.0
L1-D Cache "64KBytes"
L1-I Cache "64 KBytes"
L2 Cache "512 KBytes"

If you need anymore specs tell me and i will post them
