For some reason, I can't get my headset to work for squad chat. I've tried searching to see if this was a common problem and found some people with similar issues. I tried what people have suggested, but, still no luck.

Any advice?

Hmm, onboad sound could be the problem.

Are you sure you have the headphone jack and mic jack connected to the right connectors?

Ar you using front panel or rear panel connectors? I always find front to be best for headphone/mic as it overrides the normal speaker output from the rear.

Also, make sure in your volume controls window (double click speaker icon in sys tray), click options-properties, and make sure you have mic and headphones ticked. You should then have extra sliders for each where you can un-mute them.

I got them in the right spot for sure. Using front panel connections. Tried back as well. Headset wroks fine on all other sounds applications. Teamspeak and Ventrilo both work just fine.

Not sure if this matters, but, you know that mic test that you do when you install the game? It was completely unresponsive. I move the sliders around and nothing really happens. I tried re-installing and still nothing.

My best friend and I have to go low tech and use our cell phones on the weekend, when the minutes are free lol

ha ha!!

Make sure your mic isnt muted when doing the test. Also, click the +20% mic boost, sometimes the signal is too low.

That's another funny thing. The boost mic box is greyed out. Before my re-install, the sound options would reset everytime I left the options page. After the re-install I was able to keep my sound setting saved, but, still no mic or sound in the voiceover ip.

I'll check for muting as soon as I get home. I should have checked that, but, everything else works fine, so, I didn't even think about it.

I ran into the same issue with my usb headset. Is yours a usb headset? If so, you only need to hit the mute button on the headset, if not then make sure your mic is unmuted in the control panel. BF2 has a habit of automatically muting. One other cure; use Teamspeak. You can find it here: http://www.goteamspeak.com/

The headset is USB. I have tried switching the mute button om the headset itself. I'll check the systems settings in about an hour, once I get home.

Lou, your mic problem seems like a dodgy jack.

still no luck. I checked the sounds settings and it was not muted. Not sure where to go from here.

When I use ventrilo or teamspeak for other games, it's fine.

Still everytime I try squad speak in BF2 I get a big fat nothing. I can still hear the game effects, but, no voiceover in or out

Are you sure you have it enabled in BF2 sound settings?

You can also try running the sound config program from programs/ea games / battlefield 2/

I'm having the same problem with the mic box being grayed out and the slider don't work
has anyone got a fix for this I'm running vista on Striker II extreme and an 8600 video card with 4 gigs of memory on a raid O config.
I think this is a bf2 problem has anyone found a fix for this
