my computer went haywire. I finally resorted to a system restore. Now this pops up: ntldr is compressed; press ctrl alt delete to start. THe next screen gives me the option to f1 into setup or f10 to system recovery. I do not have a back up disk, and no disks came with the computer. Im stuck. I thought when I would do a system recovery it would return me to my "origional factory settings". its an hp desktop. of course, no longer under warranty. Much thanks to anyone who can help.

hey rhonda, i had the EXACT same problem as you and I was able to fix it.

Use the alternative (second) method as described on:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/fastFaqDocument?lc=en&c...=c00220758

Note: As soon as you are able to get into your files, back them up onto cd's immediately! That way you can work with fixing your computer without worrying about losing important data.

Hope it helps!

Brando

the good news is that when I go to file volume it says that both c (rcovery) and d (hp pavilion) are in "healthy" status. c has a boot after it, but d does not
