I bought a Toshiba Satellite U305-S7446 laptop last year. I primarily bought it for use with Cakewalk audio software, to record music with my Roland Fantom X8 keyboard workstation. I basicly haven't been able to do anything with this laptop yet in the way of recording and I think it may be a soundcard related issue.

It may not be the soundcard, it may just be some type of configuration in the laptop that will not allow me to record live audio thru the audio input, but everytime I plug anything into my audio in on the laptop (my Roland, a tape or record player), anything to record in, the playback is always distorted! Like I pluged some kind of cheap mic into it and mic'd the audio from another source. The quality always comes back distorted and I can do nothing with it!

I tried changing different settings in the Realtek sound card control panel, nothing to any avail. It's been frustrating because this is the primary purpose that I intended to use this pc for. I've been about ready to just sell it and go by a Mac; something I've used beofore for this purpose and had no problem whatsoever!

Anyways, thought someone might have a suggestion. Any help is appriciated!

-Philip

Hi Philip,

This may sound pretty stupid, but have you tried lowering the recording volume?

Because when you play your keyboard, it might be maxing out and distorting.

Try it about halfway and see how you go.
