I just bought my new set of computer but i had a problem installing WinXP. The installation does not continue upto to WinXP display. It only reached upto the "Preparing Installation" then it became blue screen... i already tried replacing my memory (same spec and same brand) 3 times but still to no avail. What could be the problem? Has it something to do with my hardware? Please help...

Computer Spec:
Intel COre DUo E2180
ASUS P5VD2-VM SE
1GB DDR2 667 Samsung
160GB SATA HDD Seagate
DVD-RW Drive
FDD

Lots of prior posts on this same topic to get info from
You can search in the HWA search field (upper right of web-page) for things like
xp won't install blue
or
cannot install xp blue
and similar. Sometimes it's as simple as finding a bad memory stick, so one tries installing with one memory stick at a time.

You can also try running free, self-booting, non-Windows diagnostics to see if you have a bad piece of hardware. Info on how to get that is here:

Hi,
I've encountered the same problem. I've installed a very old version of Window XP (without service pack2) onto my new computer (Core 2 Duo). At one stage of the window installation, the whole screen turns blue.

Is it because I need a winXP with service pack 2 inorder for it to work?

Thanks a lot

No, you can install SP2 later. (you can later download for free or get the CD for just S&H from Microsoft). However, if you're installing to a high-capacity disk drive it would be better to install with SP2 to begin with.

You might try a different installation disc as has helped some people, but assuming you're using a commercial retail Microsoft installation CD, the odds are that it's a hardware problem.
