I got all the parts now

2 X 3.16 Ghz quad core processors (Got them REALLY cheap. £411 each)-£822

8 GB PC 6700 FBDIMM RAM- £333

Nvidia Quadro FX 3700 - £540

Skulltrail motherboard- £400

case Coolermaster RC-1100 Cosmos S (Sport) Black Silent Full Tower Case w/o PSU - £175

total -£2270 not including delivery costs

now i just checked my old power supply and realised that its only 450 watts

i plan to get atleast 750 watts(is that enough).. and do i need a specific kind of power supply if i am building a quad core xeon system.. ive checked a few and some say they are compatible with quade core or xeon systems and some dont say anything

PS- I have 4 unwanted dual core 2gz processors.. if anybody is intrested let me know

That motherboard "requires" dual 8-Pin +12V motherboard connections for overclocking, you can get away with a single 8-pin connector though.

I personally wouldn't use anything less than a 1000W PSU

Recomended PSU's, all from NewEgg

SilverStone's DA1200 http://tinyurl.com/4jkef4

PC Power & Cooling, the 1000W Turbo-Cool 1KW-SR http://tinyurl.com/2kbk4b

1200W T12W http://tinyurl.com/3tbmml

Newer Intel processors consume very minimal power, I'd suggest try with 450W and see how things are.

750W is WAY WAY overkill.

Supreet can't believe you advised on a 450w?! There is never enough.
450w is way to low. That's like something that was overkill about 5 years ago.
750w is not overkill.

In my opinion, the PSU is the most important component in the system.
It gives you the power to run the PC. If you're building a cheapo system, then
get a crappy psu - fair play. If you're getting high spec equipment, a high end
psu is a must. If you're spending a fortune on enthusiast components (his cpu for a
start) then a low wattage psu (most likely cheaply made too) can be risky. If it
blows you have a chance that it'll damage some component.
If you're gonna get a 750w then expect to pay 100 quid plus. Folks might gripe
about that, but at the end of the day, you're getting quality performance and reliability
a better lifetime too.

Here's OverClockersUK link for you:

That lists all the PSU's available.

Do not rely on the wattage amount because some places grossly understate it and others grossly overstate it.

I would get a PSU that has at least an 20+4-pin main, 8-pin, and 4-pin motherboard connectors and at least one 6-pin PCI Express plugs for a graphics card. I don't think the
Intel D5400XS uses all of these but most server boards do. I also highly recommend getting a PSU with modular cable support (once you go modular, you don't go back ;)).

I would recommend this PSU:
ENERMAX MODU82+ EMD625AWT 625W (extremely efficient with about 75amp total +12V)

If you don't have a problem spending $300+ on a PSU (overkill for your stated needs), it can't hurt to get this one:
ENERMAX Galaxy EGX850EWL 850W (125amp +12V)

Make a thread in the marketplace for that...
