Hey guys, my cousins just recorded their wedding using an American Video cam that uses those tiny DVD's, and now that they're back in sweden they want to be able to watch the video.. however it won't work considering it might be different regions we're talking about here..
I heard there's supposed to be a way to reset regional coding on a dvd reader on a PC, read it a year ago on some PC magazine.. does anyone know how to do this?

we've tried playing it on a regional free dvd player, wont work, they tried it on their laptop and still didnt work...

any ideas??

Check this out: http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm

Did you try Media Player Classic? http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=82303&am..._id=403110

or

Give it a shot with DVD Shrink, its free and you can actually play the DVD as well once in the program.

You need to contact your friends and find out which recording format was used to record the original disc. Your player(s) may not be supporting that format. Using a third-party software player like the above suggested MPC is a good idea.

You might also try KMplayer. This is a freeware stand-alone player that requires NO Windows software installation procedure on the computer. Just unzip, move files to desired folder, and start it up.

This means it doesn't screw-up any existing codecs, registry, settings, etc.
And, to uninstall, you just delete the folder in which you placed it.

The most important thing about this program, is that it includes everything it needs to play a long list of common formats, and has often worked where other players (such as MPC) fail.

The KMPlayer is all in one media player covering various formats such as VCD, DVD, AVI, MKV, Ogg, OGM, MPEG-1/2/4, WMV, RealMedia, QuickTime, etc. It handles a wide range of subtitles and allows you to capture audio, video, and screenshots in many ways. The player includes almost all the essential free decoders required for playback. Furthermore, the external ones can be specified, so that KMP works optimally by the users' own customization.

If it is recorded in a non-compatible format, you may find that you'll want to recode the original format of the video into some other more universal format that will play on normal DVD players or other equipment. For example, you might want to convert from SVCD to another format.

To do that, you'll need to use a transcoder program. A number of freeware video transcoding/converter tools can be found on places like majorgeeks.com, doom9.org, download.com, softpedia.com, etc.

Which program to use will depend on the source file and desired output file formats.
