I tried to use this method because I already had a USB Wireless Adapter from my OLD D-Link (which broke) but I cannot get it to recognize it as a wireless connection, only as an adapter.

Is it because the adapter I have is specifically for receiving a D-link signal or is there some setting I don't know about?

I really wanted to keep this setup ULTRA cheap, and really would have rather had a wired connection for my PS3 for a stronger signal.

Thanks in advance!

I believe it would be way easier to just get a cheap wireless router. With a wireless router computers or console games are not dependent on another computer to be on all the time to share the internet connection.

What is the model on the D-Link adapter?

Afaik a cheap wireless router is going to cause my PS3 to disconnect, do switches work as routers?

Yes but you'll need a firewall for your computer if you don't already have one.

If you hook a switch with no DHCP server up to your broadband modem (assuming your modem doesn't have a local DHCP server for multiple LAN IPs), then both your PC and your PS3 will be trying to get their own IP from your ISP. Which won't work unless you're paying for an extra IP.

A router is a much easier solution in this case.

=\

I need a cheap/easy solution to this problem.

Canadacomputers.com is where I plan on buying my router, but I don't need wireless :|
