Hi

I have a Logitech Quickcam pro 5000 that I'm having trouble getting to work under Vista Ultimate.

I made the mistake of connecting it to the PC BEFORE installing the software which may be the cause of the problem but not sure how to fix it.

Basically, what happens now is after installing the latest quickcam software it asks me to connect the cam via USB. I do this put nothing happens at all. The microphone on the webcam seems to work but it says no camera detected.

I have gone into safe mode and deleted all my USB hubs and controllers and this has done nothing. When I initially connected the cam before installing the software it did ask if I wanted to install software...I think I selected 'cancel' or 'no'.... Could this be the problem?

I'd appreciate and help on this

Thanks
Jon

Have you tried re-installing the software drivers without the camera connected?

Hi

Yes several times :/ Oh and the camera does actually work on a friends PC so it can't be faulty.

1. Uninstall the camera
2. Download the latest Vista drivers for the camera.
3. With the camera unplugged, begin the install process of the new drivers/software.
4. When asked, attach the camera.
5. Follow instructions on screen.

Also, when you uninstalled all of your USB hubs/controllers, did you re-install them again correctly?

Can you confirm that the USB port itself is working?

Yes the port works (tried other ports too) And the steps you mention I have already done several times and at the point where the software asks you to connect the camera, nothing happens at all..

Very frustrating

Try that webcam in another PC. Maybe it requires exactly 500mA that is a max current you get on a USB slot and some PC do not keep that spec
